LingEQ legal
Terms of Service
These Terms govern access to and use of LingEQ and its writing-evaluation services.
Effective 12 July 2026 · Version 2026-07-12
1. Scope
These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and 靈格科技有限公司 (LINGEQ TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED) (LingEQ, we, us, or our) for your use of LingEQ. LingEQ provides AI-assisted scholarly PDF review and related writing-evaluation services through its website and application. By accessing or using LingEQ, or clicking an acceptance control, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. The canonical publication of these Terms is https://lingeq.com/terms. These Terms are published only in English, which is the controlling language.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use LingEQ. If you use LingEQ for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organisation.
3. Account security
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, safeguarding your credentials and API keys, and all activity conducted through your account. Do not share credentials or API keys, and revoke a key if you believe it has been exposed. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
4. Ownership and licence
You retain your rights in content you submit to LingEQ. You may retain and use the review results we return to you for your lawful purposes, but results may contain non-exclusive or third-party material and are not guaranteed to be unique. You grant us the limited, non-exclusive licence needed to host, process, and display your content solely to provide, maintain, and secure the service and deliver your requested review results.
5. User warranties
You represent that you have the rights, permissions, and lawful basis necessary to submit your content, and that your use of LingEQ will comply with applicable law and these Terms.
6. No training
Training restriction
Your submitted content and review results are not used to train LingEQ or third-party AI foundation models.
7. AI limitations
LingEQ uses automated systems, including third-party AI model providers, to generate writing evaluations. LingEQ is not a plagiarism checker, AI-content detector, grammar checker, or fact-checker. Results may be incomplete, inaccurate, inconsistent between runs, or unsuitable for a particular purpose and are not professional, legal, educational, medical, or financial advice. You remain responsible for reviewing and deciding how to use results, and must not rely on them as the sole basis for consequential decisions.
8. Acceptable use
You must not misuse LingEQ or help anyone else misuse it.
- Do not access the service except through its intended interfaces or interfere with its security or operation.
- Do not submit unlawful, infringing, harmful, or deceptive content, or personal data of others without a lawful basis.
- Do not misrepresent review results as definitive human judgments or use LingEQ to unlawfully surveil, discriminate against, or harm another person.
- Do not reverse engineer, scrape, resell, or create competing services from the service except where applicable law does not allow that restriction.
9. Credits and refunds
LingEQ offers USD-denominated credits. Stripe and WeChat Pay process supported purchases, and the prices, credit quantities, and payment terms shown at checkout apply to that purchase. Credits are non-transferable, have no cash value, and may be used only for eligible LingEQ services.
Payments are final and non-refundable except where required by applicable law or where LingEQ fails to provide the paid credits. We may correct pricing or billing errors and suspend access where payment is overdue, reversed, or disputed.
10. Intellectual property and feedback
LingEQ and its software, branding, and service materials are protected by intellectual property laws and remain ours or our licensors'. If you provide feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it without restriction or compensation.
11. Service changes and termination
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of LingEQ to improve the service, address security or legal requirements, or for operational reasons. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, create security or legal risk, fail to pay amounts due, or misuse the service. You may stop using LingEQ and request account deletion at any time.
Provisions that by their nature should continue, including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, dispute terms, and accrued rights, survive termination. We may update these Terms by posting a revised version at the canonical URL; continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LingEQ is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither LingEQ nor its suppliers will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from or related to LingEQ.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising from or relating to LingEQ or these Terms will not exceed the greater of USD 100 or the fees paid by you to LingEQ during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer-law protections.
13. Hong Kong law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The courts of Hong Kong have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these Terms, subject to mandatory consumer protections and except where applicable law requires otherwise.
